1825; a jeweller; married, 3 July 1851, at Barry, Mich., Naomi Grover, dau. of Ashbel and Laura (Williams) Grover, of Springwater, N.Y., where she was born 16 Oct. 1833. They dwelt at Carleton, Mich., for two years; at LeRoy, Mich., seven years; at Eureka, Mich., one year; at Benton, Mich., four years; at Charlotte, Mich., one year; at Litchfield, Mich., two years; and, in 1872, settled at Kalkaska, Mich., where they were living in March 1876. He enlisted at Battle Creek, Mich., 8 Oct. 1861, in Co. D, 13th Reg., Mich. Vol. Infantry; and was discharged at Detroit, Mich., for general debility, 1 May 1863, having fought at Shiloh, Corinth, Perryville, and other places.

VI. William Henry Nichols, b. at Painted Post, N.Y., 8 Sept. 1827; enlisted in Oct. 1861, at St. Louis, Mo., in the Burgess Sharp-shooters, and was discharged in 1862. He lived at Green River City, Washington Ter., in May 1876.

VII. Charles Bow Nichols, b. at Avon, N.Y., 7 Jan. 1830; married in 1850, at "Howlandsbury," Mich., Sarah Huffman, who died in Chicago, Ill. He enlisted in the Autumn of 1862, in the 2d Reg. of Ill. Cavalry; and, having never returned, is supposed to have been killed in battle.

Benjamin Franklin Nichols, b. at Eagle, N.Y., 1 Nov. 1831; a farmer; married at her father's house, by her father, a clergyman of the Wesleyan Methodist Church, 4 Sept. 1853, to Jane Elizabeth Tapley, dau. of Rev. Obed and Amanda (Chamberlain) Tapley, of Hickory Corners, Mich. She was born in Canada, 1 May 1837. They dwelt at Carleton, Mich., till 1864; and then settled at Boston, Mich., where they were living in Aug. 1876.

XII. Emily Nichols, b. at Bristol, N.Y., 1 march 1841; married in 1858, at her father's house, in Barry, Mich., by Adam Elliott, Esq., to Alonzo Wright, who died in Andersonville prison. She married (2d), in 1865, at her father's house in Otisco, Mich., George Wright, brother of her first husband.
