Kirk, a mason, son of John and Mary (Wixon) Kirk, of Kent, N. Y., where he was born 15 March 1813. They dwelt at Ludingtonville till 1 Ap. 1847; at East Fishkill, N. Y., till 1 Ap. 1848; at Farmer's Mills, in Kent, till 1 Ap. 1849; at Ludingtonville again, till 1 Ap. 1857; at Carmel, N. Y., till 1 Ap. 1858; then returned to Ludingtonville, and were living there in 1874. They are members of the Baptist Church.

V. Orrin Whitney, b. at Kent, N. Y., 6 Oct. 1828; a farmer; married at Ludingtonville, Kent, 21 Aug. 1847, Sarah Maria Sprague, born at Kent, 6 March 1846, dau. of Horace and Esther (Cronk) Sprague. He settled at Kent; and, about 1853, left his family and went to Joliet, Ill. His friends have not heard from him since 1861; and suppose that he volunteered as a soldier, and died during the war.

VI. Levi Russell Whitney, b. at Kent, N. Y., 20 Sept. 1830; a miller; married at Patterson, N. Y., 3 July 1852, by Rev. Epenetus Platt Benedict, Presbyterian, to Phila Jane Ballard, dau. of Darius and Caroline (Eastwood) Ballard, of Patterson, formerly of Lexington, N. Y., where she was born 20 Jan. 1836. They dwelt at Patterson for one year; at Ludingtonville, N. Y., twelve years; at Southeast, N. Y., one year; at Sherman, Conn., one year; at Pawling, N. Y., three years; and, in 1874, had lived at Beekmanville, N. Y., for two years.

VII. Emily Whitney, b. at Kent, N. Y., 2 May 1832; married, 27 Ap. 1867, Lewis A. Brown, a blacksmith, son of Thomas and Phebe (Angevine) Brown, of Westchester Co., N. Y., where he was born 19 Aug. 1824. They were living at 238 East 40th Street, New York, without children, in 1874.
