1870 I. Edward Philander Whitney, b. in Catharine's, N.Y., 24 March 1818; a carriage-maker; married, 14 Ap. 1841, in Somers, N.Y., Harriet Ann Jackson, who was born 8 Nov. 1822. He lived in Stamford, Conn., in 1868; and died, 4 Sept. 1870, in East Venice, N.Y., and was buried in the East Venice Cemetery. She was still living at Stamford, in Aug. 1874. 6057
1871 II. Harriet Louisa Whitney, b. in Venice, N.Y., 16 Oct. 1824; married in Venice, by Rev. Charles Plumb, Baptist, 8 Jan. 1843, to James Young, a farmer, son of Gilbert and Nancy (Homan) Young, of Venice, formerly of Roxbury, N.J., where he was born 5 May 1791. They lived at Venice in 1868, and at East Venice in 1874. He served, for a short time, in the regiment of Col. John Harris, on the Niagara frontier, in the war of 1812. 6060
1872 III. Sanford Bennett Whitney, b. at Venice, N.Y., 18 Sept. 1827; a farmer; married, 29 Dec. 1858, at Venice, by Rev. Ansel Clark, Baptist to Martha Whiting, dau. of William and Nancy (Hurlbut) Whiting, of Venice, formerly of Moravia, N.Y., where she was born 27 June 1837. They settled at Venice, and were living there in Aug. 1874. 6062

1873 I. William Erastus Root, b. in New Canaan, Conn., 15 July 1818; an operative in a woollen-mill; married in Poundridge, N. Y., 12 Dec 1847, Martha Ann Saxon, born in Manchester, England, 21 Sept. 1823, dau. of John and Margaret (Johnson) Saxon. He lived in New Canaan, from 1848 to 1850; in the town of Norwalk, Conn., till 1860; in Norwalk Village, till 1863; in the town of Norwalk again, till 1869; and then returned to New Canaan, where he was living in 1873. 6065
1874 II. Angeline Eliza Root, b. in Woodbury, Conn., 17 Feb. 1820; married in New Canaan, Conn., 28 Oct. 1840, William Edward Aiken, a farmer, son of Andrew Aiken, of Norwalk, Conn., where he was born 26 March 1816. They were living at Cascade, Wis., in 1873. 6068
