4587 IV. Sylvanus Whitney Olive, b. in King Street, Carleton, St. John, N. B., 29 March 1814; a shipwright; married at Carleton, 11 Nov. 1835, by Rev. Frederick Coster, Episcopal, to Elizabeth Susanna Dunham, dau. of Joseph Crowell and Mary (Croft) Dunham, of Carleton, where she was born 6 March 1816. She died 24 Aug. 1869, and was buried in Carleton Cemetery. He was married (2d), 23 Ap. 1873, at Carleton, by Rev. Duncan Currie, Wesleyan, to Elizabeth Ann Ketchum, widow of Josiah Adams, aud dau. of James and Elizabeth (Theall) Ketchum, of Carleton, where she was born 4 March 1827. They were living on Duke Street, Carleton, in March 1874. 11849
4588 V. James Olive, b. in King Street, Carleton, St. John, N. B., 13 Aug. 1816; a shipwright, and afterward an auctioneer and commission-merchant; married at Carleton, 28 Dec. 1837, by Rev. Frederick Coster, Episcopal, to Mary Graham Clark, dau. of Ebenezer and Mary (Matthews) Clark, of Yarmouth, N. S., where she was born 18 June 1817. They dwelt in St. John till 21 Oct. 1870; and then moved to Yarmouth, where they were living in Feb. 1874. He was elected Councillor of St. John, in 1851; Alderman, 6 Ap. 1852; Mayor, by the City Council, in May 1853; and again, in 1854, by the people, at the first election by ballot ever held in that Province. He has been a member of the Methodist Church since 1842. 11859
4589 VI. George Woods Olive, b. at Carleton, St. John, N. B., 12 Sept. 1824; died at Carleton, 19 May 1825, and was buried there.

4590 I. Sylvanus Whitney, b. at Lancaster, near Carleton, St. John, N. B., 24 March 1817; a merchant; married at Hall's Harbor, Cornwallis, N. S., 3 Feb. 1836, Elmira Parker, dau. of Thomas and Nancy (Myers) Parker, of Hall's Harbor. She was born at Passamaquoddy, N. B., 27 Ap. 1816; and died at St. John, 11 July 1854. He married (2d), 22 Aug. 1855, Alice Jane Bowles, dau. of William and Prudence (Rockwell) Bowles, of Cornwallis. She was born at Centreville, Cornwallis, 8 Dec. 1820. He dwelt at Hall's Harbor in Jan 1874, and had lived there continuously since 17 Oct 1834, except five months, Ap. to Aug. 1854, at St. John. 11870
