there, about 1813, Samuel Clark, a machinist, born at Andover, Mass., 12 Dec. 1794, son of Samuel and Elizabeth (Russell) Clark. They settled in New York City; where he died 28 July 1836, and was buried in a cemetery on Forsyth Street. She returned to Ridgefield in Aug. 1836; and moved, in 1844, to North Wilton, Conn., where she died 21 Sept. 1851. She was buried in the Smith Cemetery at Ridgefield.

V. Samuel Smith, b. at Ridgefield, Conn., 7 Aug. 1798; a tailor; married, 8 Nov. 1819, Henrietta Hurlbutt, born at Westport, Conn., 20 March 1800, dau. of James and Ann (Hayes) Hurlbutt. They lived at Sheffield and Great Barrington, Mass.; at New York City; and at Westport and Wilton, Conn. He died at Wilton, 24 July 1840; she, at Ridgefield, 21 Jan. 1863, in her 63d year. They were buried in the Smith Cemetery at Ridgefield.

VI. Eliza Smith, b. at Ridgefield, Conn., 14 March 1801; married there, 25 Nov. 1818, Benjamin Seymour, a blacksmith, born at Wilton, Conn., 8 Jan. 1797, son of Abijah and Elizabeth (Hine) Seymour. They settled at North Wilton, where they died (she, 14 Oct. 1860; he, 14 March 1870, aged 73 years), and were buried.

Phebe Smith, b. at Ridgefield, Conn., 29 Sept. 1802; married, 6 June 1823, in New York City, Orman Broadway, a butcher, who was born in New Haven, Vt., 23 Sept. 1803, son of Frasier and Hannah (Weed) Broadway. He dwelt in New York from 1819 to 1837; and then moved to Stamford, Conn., where they were living in Nov. 1873.

Sarah Whitney Smith, b. at Ridgefield, Conn., 4 Feb. 1806; married at her father's house, in Ridgefield, Matthias Comstock, a farmer, son of Moses and Lois (Hoyt) Comstock, of New Canaan, Conn., where he was born 29 May 1807. They dwelt at New Canaan a short time; and then settled at Upper Nod, North Wilton, Conn., where they died--he, 1 March 1846; she, 25 Sept. 1871, in her 66th year. They were buried in the Smith Cemetery at Ridgefield.

X. Catharine Smith, b. at Ridgefield, Conn., 11 July 1807; married there, 30 Sept. 1838, as his second wife, Daniel Sholes, a shoemaker, born at Rutland, Vt., 26 Sept. 1800, son of Ebenezer and Elizabeth (Waterman) Sholes. They settled in West Lane, Ridgefield, and were living there in Nov. 1875.
