Shurtleff, Christian, to Catharine Thirza Parvin, who was born at Quincy, Ill., 28 Jan. 1839, dau. of Arthur Parvin. They were living at Garner, Ill., in 1873. He was a soldier in the Union army, during the war of 1861.

I. Elvira Melinda Whitney, b. at Bakersfield, Vt., 10 Jan. 1843; married, in June 1861, Charles Wesley Hill; and died at Richmond, Vt., 16 Feb. 1873. He was living at Richmond in July 1874.

Henry Dow Whitney, b. at Fletcher, Vt., 28 Ap. 1845; a farmer; enlisted, 10 Dec. 1861, in Co. --, 8th Reg., Vermont Vol. Infantry, and was discharged 10 June 1865; married at Belvidere, Vt., 15 Oct 1865, by Rev. Robert Davis Whittemore, Christian, to Harriet Clarina Reynolds, whose parents then lived at Belvidere. She was born at Fairfield, Vt., 15 July 1844, dau. of Ebenezer Haskel and Lois Chase (Squires) Reynolds. They settled at Hyde Park, Vt.; and, in May 1873, moved to Belvidere, where they were living in July 1874.
