Abraham8 Whitney (Christopher7, Abraham6, Abraham5, Abraham4, Moses3, Richard2, John1), son of Christopher7 and Dolly (Brooks) Whitney, was born 28 Sep 1837, Stow, MA, and died 11 Sep 1884, Danvers, MA, aged 46 years, of progressive anaemia.[1]

In many records, his given name appears as "Abram".

He "Henry Abram Whitney" married firstly, 6 Jul 1865, Providence, RI, Mary Elizabeth Swan, daughter of Joseph B. and Sarah Jane (Webster) Swan. She was born 25 Jul 1844, North Andover, MA, and died 28 Feb 1874, North Andover, MA, aged 39 years 8 months 3 days, of cancer, residing in Pittsfield, NH.[2]

He married secondly, 29 Sep 1874, North Andover, MA, Eliza A. Whitcomb, daughter of Benjamin F. and Polly (Thatcher) Whitcomb.[3] She was born 25 Jul 1844, North Andover, MA, and died 22 Aug 1940, Lawrence, MA.

Both Abraham ("Abram") and Eliza are buried in Spring Grove Cemetery, Andover, MA.[4]

He resided Pittsfield, NH, and Lynn, MA.

i. Mabel Dolly9 Whitney, b. 4 Jul 1872, Lynn, MA; "Dorothy" d. 14 Jul 1895, Boston, MA, aged 23 years, of a pulmonary embolism; unmarried; bookkeeper.[5]
ii. Lewis A. Whitney, b. 29 Jan 1874, Lynn, MA; d. Aug 1950, aged 76 years; bur. Pine Grove Cemetery, Lynn, MA.[6]

Children of Abraham8 and Eliza A. (Whitcomb) Whitney:

iii. Alice Thacher9 Whitney, b. 23 Jul 1877, Lynn, MA; 10 Dec 1977, Andover, MA, aged 100 years; bur. Spring Grove Cemetery, Andover, MA.[7]
iv. Frederick Eben Whitney, b. 28 Jan 1879, Lynn, MA; d. 1919; m. Florence E. Burnett, b. 1880, d. 1933; of Philadelphia, PA, in 1917, when he was a teacher at Germantown Academy. Both are buried in Spring Grove Cemetery, Andover, MA.[8]
