Alexander Hamilton7 Whitney (Henry6, Richard5, Richard4, Henry3, John2, Henry1), son of Henry6 and Aurelia (Fenton) Whitney, was born 11 Oct 1818, Westmoreland, NY, and died after 1880.

He married firstly, 27 Aug 1840, Chautauqua, NY, Mary Ann Rheubottom, daughter of John and Martha (Allen) Rheubottom, of Chautauqua. She was born 1 Feb 1824, Washington Co., NY, and died 14 Jan 1853, Chautauqua, NY, where she was buried in Magnolia Cemetery.

He married secondly, 6 Oct 1853, Buffalo, NY, Lucy Almeda Clark, daughter of Isaac and Hannah (Gates) Clark, and grand-daughter of Salmon and Lucy (Fosdic) Gates. She was born in Springfield Corners, PA, and died after 1880.

Phoenix says the following:

". . . moved with his father, in 1821, to Chautauqua, N.Y. . . . . They were living at Chautauqua in June 1874."

i. John Henry Rheubottom8 Whitney, b. 23 Jan 1842; m. 15 Apr 1871, Burnett Daley; and was living at Mayville, in Chautauqua, in Jun 1874; he was a widower in 1880, without children.
ii. Martha Electa Whitney, b. 22 Feb 1845; m. Magnolia, in Chautauqua, NY, 26 Jul 1869, Isaac Rosenzweig, son of Isaac and Benna (Baker) Rosenzweig, of Erie, PA, b. 25 Dec 1845, Philadelphia, PA; an insurance-agent. They settled at Erie, and were living there in May 1874.
iii. Caroline Aurelia Whitney, b. 3 Mar 1849; m. 20 Nov. 1867, Union City, PA, Abraham Organ Gillett, son of William Alfred and Julia Ann (Organ) Gillett, b. 14 Apr 1841, Prattsburgh, NY; a dealer in furniture. They settled at Union City, and were living there in May 1874.
