Alvin8 Whitney (Horace7, Joel6, Jonas5, David4, Benjamin3, John2, John1), son of Horace7 and Mary (Sawin) Whitney, was born 24 Nov 1847, Westminster, MA.

He married, 16 Aug 1869, Boston, MA, Marie Antoinette Rich, daughter of Samuel W. and Emeline E. (-----) Rich.[1] She was born 20 May 1848, Brooklyn, NY.

He formerly resided in Boston and Cambridge, MA, and in 1892 moved to Chicago. He is foreman in the action department in the Kimball Piano County factory; resided 909 W. Adams St., Chicago, IL.

Children of Alvin8 and Marie Antoinette (Rich) Whitney:

i. Alice Emeline9 Whitney, b. 14 or 1 Jan 1875, Boston, MA.[2].
ii. Herbert Alvin Whitney, b. 19 Mar 1877, Boston, MA.[3]
iii. Gertrude Sawin Whitney, b. 5 Feb 1879, Boston, MA;[4] d. 21 Jan 1883, Boston, MA, aged 3 years 11 months 16 days, of croupous diphtheria.[5]
