He married, 27 Dec 1888, Lillian White. She was born 14 Nov 1865.
Benjamin R. Whitney, Jr., was born in Kansas City, MO, 24 Feb 1861, and was educated in the public schools of that place. At the age of 17 he took a subordinate position in a party of locating engineers on the Chicago and Alton Railroad in Missouri and when 20 years of age was resident engineer on the Denver and New Orleans railroad in Colorado. He devoted his time to railroad construction in Missouri and the states and territories west as far as Arizona till 1885, when he turned his attention to municipal engineering, and is now engaged in the engineering department of the Board of Public Works of Kansas City, MO; resided Kansas City, MO.
