Clarence Edward Whitney (John Leroy, Jacob M., James), son of John Leroy and Caroline E. (Dann) Whitney, was born 31 May 1878, Union Grove, Delaware Co., NY, and died 6 Oct 1952, Buckley, Pierce Co., WA. He was buried Buckley Cemetery, Buckley, WA.

He married 17 Jun 1902, Walton, Delaware Co., NY, Jennette Wilson , daughter of Henry and Sarah (Combs) Wilson. She was born 13 Mar 1878, Walton, Delaware Co., NY, and died 26 Jun 1957, Buckley, Pierce Co., WA.

Dr. Whitney studied medicine in Boston, MA, and began practice at Delanson, NY, 1901. After marrying in 1902, he moved to Ravena, NY, and after a stay of about two years joined the medical staff of Central Islip State Hospital, Suffolk Co., NY. In 1904 he went west, to Buckley, WA, where he and his family spent the rest of their lives.

Dr. Whitney served in World War I as 1st Lieutenant, Medical Corps, 39th Field Artillery, 13th Division, 20 Mar 1918 to 5 Feb 1919. He also held a World War II Draft Registration Card, but was not called up for service.
