Elijah Whitney (Ebenezer), son of Ebenezer and Nancy (Bliss) Whitney, was born 30 Mar 1791, Belchertown, MA, and died said 24 Sep 1848, Belchertown, MA, but still living in 1860 census.

Marriage intentions were published 28 Aug 1818, Belchertown, MA, Betsey Field, "both of Belchertown". He married in 1818, Belchertown, MA, Betsey Field. She was born about 1790 and died 20 May 1842, Belchertown, MA, aged 52 years, of consumption.[1]

He married secondly, 31 Oct 1842, Belchertown, MA, Patience (Chase) Sikes "both of Belchertown", daughter of Jacob Chase. She was born about Feb 1792, Belchertown, MA, and died 13 Jan 1865, Belchertown, MA, aged 72 years 11 months, of cancer.[2]

ii. Susanna Whitney, b. 1 Sep 1821, Belchertown, MA; m. 13 Nov 1846, Belchertown, MA, Harry W. Olmstead of Springfield.[4]
iii. Joseph R. Whitney, b. 17 Jan 1824, Belchertown, MA; m. Julia Anna Greenleaf.
iv. Robert W. Whitney, b. 23 Feb 1826, Belchertown, MA; m. Ann (-----)(-----) Magoon.
v. Harriet D. Whitney, b. 19 Jun 1828, Belchertown, MA; m. 30 Nov 1848, Belchertown, MA, Andrew J. Douglass, of Windsor, CT, b. ca. 1826.[5]
