He married, 1 Jul 1865, Franklin Co., KS, Rebecca Pownall. She was born Dec 1843, MO, and died 11 May 1906, Emporia, KS.
George was a Civil War veteran. He enrolled on 1 Mar 1864 in Company I of the 16th Regiment of Kansas Cavalry commanded by Captain Abraham Hyde. He was honorably discharged at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas on 28 Nov 1865. Both he and his widow received pensions from the U.S. government.
