Henry Baun Whitney (Benjamin F., Samuel), son of Benjamin F. and Maria Kemball (Edwards) Whitney, was born 7 May 1847, Henry Co., IL, and died 14 Jan 1900. "Survivors include his wife & one daughter." He was buried in Bird Cemetery, Weir, KS.[1]

He married, 31 Jul 1867, Black Hawk, IA, Mary Burbank, daughter of John Devine and Mary (Sanborn) Burbank. She was born Sep 1847, (prob. Deerfield, Dane Co.,) WI, and died after 1900.

In Jul 1864, Henry Whitney was listed in draft records as aged 17, born 4 May 1847, along with brother Lorenzo H., aged 19, born 8 Mar 1845, both farmers, both born in Illinois. Each was subject to draft on his 20th birthday.
