He married firstly, 24 Jun 1850, Dublin, NH, Mary Ann Stanley of Dublin, daughter of Simeon and Mary (Morse) Stanley. She was born 27 May 1830, Dublin, NH, and died 1888.
He married secondly, 2 Nov 1891, Greenville, NH, Sarah Jane (Messer) Gould of Washington, DC, daughter of Nathan and Betsey (-----) Messer. She was born 1 Oct 1828, Alstead, NH, and died after 1910. In 1880, she was recorded as Sarah J. Messer, aged 51, divorced. The identity of her first husband, ----- Gould, is not known.
While yet a young man he removed to Mason Village, now Greenville, and there made his permanent abode except during two years during which he was associated with his brother Albert in Battle Creek, Mich. He was for many years a machinist and foreman of the machine shop connected with the cotton factories. He was a merchant from 1880 to 1895. He held the office of deputy sheriff for about forty years. He also served his town as selectman, treasurer, and representative.
