Herman and Henrietta are buried in the Masonic Cemetery in Olympia, Washington

EARLY PIONEER ANSWERS CALL
Mrs. Henrietta L. Whitney, 83, early pioneer and resident of this county for the past 64 years, died Thursday morning at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Alex Wright, 117 Fifteenth avenue, east, her death following a long illness. Mrs. Whitney was born in Jonesboro, Maine, January 8, 1850. At the age of 19 she was married in the same city to Hiram Whitney. Shortly afterward they came to this state, locating at first in Port Townsend. After a brief residence there they came to this city, which continued to be their home. Mr. Whitney died here in 1915.
A son Jeff Whitney, and a daughter, Mrs. Fred Day, died several years ago. Surviving the deceased are two grandsons, Milford Day, of Olympia, and Robert Whitney, of Seattle, and two granddaughters, Mrs. Lloyd Riley, of Seattle, and Mrs. Arthur Fenton, of Long Beach, California, also six great grandchildren.
Mrs. Whitney had for many years been a member of the United Churches of Olympia, and was a past matron of Chapter 36, Order of Eastern Star. Funeral services will be from the Mills funeral chapel Sunday afternoon at 1:30, with interment in the family plot in Masonic cemetery.

PIONEER RESIDENT OF CITY PASSES AWAY
Herman Whitney, aged 76, who has been a resident of Olympia since 1861, passed away at the family home, 1753 Main street, yesterday afternoon. Mr. Whitney was born in Maine in 1842 and came to Olympia while still a young man.
He leaves besides his wife, Henrietta Whitney, one son, J. L. Whitney of Seattle, one daughter, Mrs. T. R. Day, of Olympia: and a brother, Josiah Whitney of Jonesborough, Maine. Mr. Whitney has been a member of Harmony Lodge for 42 years. The funeral will be held under the auspices of the lodge, Sunday at 2 p. m., with J. A. Gilbaugh in charge, and Rev. C. T. Goodsell will assist. Interment will be in the Masonic cemetery and the services will be held from the Masonic Temple. The remains have been removed to the J. A. Gilbaugh undertaking parlors.
