In 1891 he finished the paperwork etc. for the Homestead that his father started. In the paperwork he is listed as doing this for the Heirs of John F. Whitney as one of the Heirs of John F. Whitney. It says that John F. Whitney was on the land from Feb 1885 until his death in May 1888 and Jacob had been cultivating and residing upon the land since that time. Jacob is said to be 49 years old with the post office address of Ft. Ripley, Crow Wing Co., MN. He was born in New York. His family consists of a wife and 4 children.
