Jarvis7 Whitney (Palmer6, Joseph5, Timothy4, John3, John2, John1), son of Palmer6 and Judith (Barber) Whitney, was born 25 Mar 1811, Warwick, MA, and died 5 Oct 1855, Campton, IL. He is buried in the Whitney Cemetery, Saint Charles, IL.[1]

He married firstly, about 1833, Nancy Potter. She died 21 Aug 1839, Java, NY. She was probably the Nancy Potter, daughter of Edmond and Betsey (Eddy) Potter, who was born 2 Apr 1814.

He married secondly, 10 Jul 1842, Java, NY, Mary Catherine Rimmer, probably daughter of William and Mary (-----) Rimmer. She was born 6 Aug 1821, Liverpool, England, and died 5 Aug 1886. She married secondly, 27 Nov 1861, Kane Co., IL, John Henry Michael, as his second wife. She is buried in the Whitney Cemetery, Saint Charles, IL.[2]

He was a carpenter. He resided Java and Pekin, NY, and Campton, IL.

i. Alvera Whitney, b. 28 Nov 1834; "Alsira" d. 9 Mar 1863; bur. Barber Cemetery, McHenry Co., IL.[3]
ii. Anna Whitney, b. 22 Aug 1836; d. about 1857. She was married and left one child, a daughter now residing in Iowa, at Manchester.

iv. William Whitney, b. 2 Jun 1845; m. Millie Freeland.

vi. John D. Whitney, b. 12 Jun 1849; m. Angie Woodin.
vii. Mary Jane Whitney, b. 23 Jun 1852; m. 25 Dec 1869, Elgin, IL, Isaac P. Michael, son of John Henry and Mary (Watkins) Michael; resided Davenport, WA. He was b. 2 Jun 1843; is a farmer. Children:
a. Jessie Michael, b. 14 May 1876.
b. John F. Michael, b. 30 Nov 1878.
c. Pearl K. Michael, b. 4 Nov 1880.
d. Rosa Ellen Michael, b. 1 May 1871; d. 2 Oct 1873.
viii. Nancy M. Whitney, b. 10 Aug 1856; m. 21 Feb 1874, Andrew C. Pingree; resided Minneapolis, MN. He was b. 3 Oct 1849; was formerly a farmer at Pingree Station, Kane County, IL; now in the fuel business. Children:
a. Hattie May Pingree, b. 19 Feb 1879, Pingree street.
b. Elmer F. Pingree, b. 24 Aug 1883, Burlington, IL.
c. Daisy E. Pingree, b. 1885, Elgin, IL.

"Sarah" is an error for "Mary".

Notes

His death date and the birth date of his daughter Nancy seem to conflict, the latter being 10 months 5 days after the former.

Why his widow and children cannot be located in 1860 is a mystery.
