Jeremiah Whitney (William), son of William and Rebecca (Sparks) Whitney, was born 10 Sep 1830, CT or MA, and died 12 Jan 1908, Ancram, NY. He was buried in Ancram Union Cemetery, Ancram, NY.

His given name is variously given as Jerry, Jarvis, Jairus, or Gerry.

He married firstly, before 1850, Mary Ann Shook, daughter of Jacob and Charity (-----) Shook. She was born 29 Jul 1825, Columbia Co., NY, and died 1 Jan 1892. She was buried in Ancram Union Cemetery, Ancram, NY.

He married secondly, 30 Mar 1899, Mary Westfall, daughter of Hiram Vespasian Washington and Hannah Matthews (Weaver) Westfall. She was born Mar 1869, and died after 1900.

He moved to Ancram, Columbia Co., NY, about 1852, where he resided for the rest of his life.
