Family:Whitney, John (1716-1741)
John5 Whitney (James4, John3, Jonathan2, John1), son of Dea. James4 and Martha (Rice) Whitney, born 10 Apr 1716, Framingham, Massachusetts, and died between 31 Oct 1741 and 7 Dec 1741, Framingham, Massachusetts.
He "of Framingham" married 8 Feb 1738/9, Sherborn, Massachusetts, Abigail Perry, daughter of Nathaniel and Abigail (Adams) Perry. She was born 5 May 1715, Sherborn, Massachusetts, and died 8 Nov 1756, Mendon, Massachusetts. She married secondly, 29 Mar 1743, Framingham, Massachusetts, Ebenezer Chapin (1714-1805) "of Mendon" as his first wife.
He left a will dated 31 Oct 1741: John Whitney of Framingham; wife Abigail, all moveable estate except wearing apparel, Cart and Wheles; brother James, Cart & Wheles; brethren James, Micah, Benajmin, Ezra, and Daniel, wearing apparel; wife Abigail, executrix; witnesses Edward Learned and Wm. Greenwood. On 7 Dec 1741 at Framingham, Massachusetts, his will was proved. On 7 Dec 1741 at Framingham, Massachusetts, widow Abigail Whitney of Framingham posted executrix's bond, with Edward Learned, husbandman, and William Greenwood, weaver, both of Sherborn, as sureties.
John5 and Abigail (Perry) Whitney had no children:
1.^ His parentage is proven by his birth record and his will.
2.^ "John [Whettny], s. of Jeams and Martha, [born] Apr. 10, 1716," according to Vital Records of Framingham, Massachusetts, to the Year 1850 (Boston, MA: 1911), p. 205.
3.^ His death date range is from the dating and proving of his will.
4.^ "John [Whitney] of Framingham and Abigail Perry, [married] Feb. 8, 1738-9," according to Thomas W. Baldwin, ed., Vital Records of Sherborn, Massachusetts, to the Year 1850 (Boston, MA: 1911). Also "John [Whitney] and Abigail Perry of Sherborn, [married] Feb. 8, 1738-9, In Sherborn," according to Vital Records of Framingham, Massachusetts, to the Year 1850 (Boston, MA: 1911).
5.^ Her parentage is proven by her birth record.
6.^ "Abigail [Perry], d. of Nathaniel and Abigail, [born] May 5, 1715," according to Sherborn Vital Records.
7.^ "Abigail [Chapin], w. of Ebenezer, [died] Nov. 8, 1766," according to Thomas W. Baldwin, ed., Vital Records of Mendon, Massachusetts, to the Year 1850 (Boston, MA: 1920). This is probably an error for "1756", since Ebenezer Chapin and his third wife Mary (Vose) had children born starting in 1759.
