John Marshall⁷ Whitney (John McCall⁶, Benjamin⁵, John⁴, Henry³, John², Henry¹), son of John McCall⁶ and Mary Ann (McCluskey) Whitney, was born 27 Aug 1843, Boonville, NY, and died after 1880.

He married firstly, 9 Sep 1866, Sauquoit, NY, Elizabeth Jane Barnes, daughter of Samuel and Lydia (Musprat) Barnes. She was born 15 Dec 1847, Hawkinsville, in Boonville, NY, and died 9 Sep 1870, New York Mills, NY, where she was buried in the New York Mills Cemetery.

He married secondly, 1 May 1873, Rome, NY, Mary Ellen Simmons, daughter of Harvey and Kate (McCarty) Simmons. She was born 21 Sep 1852, Rome, NY, and died after 1880.

Phoenix says the following:

"He moved to New York Mills, with his father, 5 Oct. 1845, and was still living there in Aug. 1874, an overseer of weaving in the lower mill."
