Jonathan⁸ Whitney (James Davis⁷, Henry⁶, John⁵, Abraham⁴, Joseph³, John², Henry¹), son of James Davis⁷ and Hannah (Pugh) Whitney, was born 9 Mar 1838, Kirkersville, OH, and died 21 Mar 1921, Washington, MO. He was buried in Enon Cemetery, Carroll Co., MO.^[1]

He married firstly, 27 Mar 1863, Harrison, OH, Leaphia Ann Moore, daughter of James and Happy (Cornell) Moore. She was born 24 Dec 1844, Pleasant City, OH, and died 4 Jun 1912, Washington, MO. She was buried in Enon Cemetery, Carroll Co., MO.^[2]

He married secondly, between 1912 and 1920, Jane -----. She was born about 1854, Scotland, and died after 1920.

They lived at Harrison, near Bellefontaine post-office, till 1873; and then settled at Dawn, MO.

iv.	Jonathan Isaac Whitney, b. 8 Jul 1871, Harrison, OH; d. 6 Aug 1933, Grandview, WA; m. 9 Feb 1893, Carrolton Plymouth, MO, Annie Cleretta Auda.
iv.	Minerva Rose Whitney, b. 1 May 1874, MO; d. 2 Jul 1902; bur. Plymouth Cemetery, Plymouth, MO;[6] m. 10 Mar 1892, Mandeville, MO, Willie Irvin Phelps.
