Lemuel7 Whitney (Abraham6, Richard5, Israel4, Ebenezer3, Richard2, John1), son of Abraham6 and Betsey (Wellman) Whitney, was born 12 Jul 1810, VT, and died 20 Nov 1883, Hornby, NY.
He married circa 1841, NY, Julia E. Kinsman, daughter of George W. and May (Eaton) Kinsman. She was born 6 Apr 1824, Arlington, VT, and died 1907, Meriden, LaSalle Co., IL.[1]
It appears from the census records that Lemuel and Julia may have been separated before 1870 as they no longer appear to be living together.

Elizabeth Whitney, b. 9 Dec 1846, Hornby, NY; d. 16 Feb 1930, Mendota, IL; m. 2 Feb 1871, William J. MacDowell. Sometimes recorded as "Libbie". Doesn't appear in her parents' family in 1850, 1855, or 1860. Not found in 1870. iv. Polly Whitney, b. ca. 1847, Steuben Co., NY. Appears in her parents' family in 1850, 1855, and 1870. Not found in 1870. Possibly the same as Elizabeth, above. v. Isabelle A. Whitney, b. 14 Aug 1849, Steuben Co., NY; d. 14 Mar 1936, Mendota, IL; m. John T. Brearley. vi. Ella May Whitney, b. 10 Sep 1851, Hornby, NY; d. 11 Oct 1933, Mendota, IL; m.(1) ----- Chamberline, m.(2) Albert M. Tope. vii. John D. Whitney, b. prob. Nov 1854, Hornby, NY; m. Catherine H. Callahan.
