Lucius8 Whitney (Benjamin7, Lemuel6, Joshua5, Nathaniel4, Nathaniel3, John2, John1), son of Benjamin7 and Betsey (Bragg) Whitney, was born 29 Feb 1804, Springfield, VT, and died 14 Jul 1884, Essex, NY.

He married firstly, Oct 1833, Thankful French, daughter of Joel French, of Lewis, NY. She was born 2 Mar 1810, and died 7 Aug 1842, Essex, NY.

He married secondly, Minerva Smith. She died 3 Apr 1875.

He resided Essex, NY.

ii. Sally Marie Whitney, b. 28 Feb 1836; m. 12 Apr 1864, Henry Dow Sherman; resided Essex, NY. He was b. 9 Apr 1838; is a farmer. Children:
a. Nellie Maria Sherman, b. 22 May 1865; m. 20 Sep 1893, Philip A. Walker; lives in Essex, NY; no children.
b. Fred Henry Sherman, b. 22 Apr 1867; lives in Essex; unmarried.
c. Cora Sherman, b. 15 Aug 1869, Essex, NY; m. 15 Nov 1887, Presbyterian church, Essex, by Rev. A. Frederick, to Henry Harmon Noble, son of Harmon and Hannah (Buckingham) Noble. Harmon was born in Essex; was educated at Selleck's school, Norwalk, CT, and in England; "have spent considerable time abroad. My home was at Essex, until Jul 1893, when I moved to Babylon, Long Island.
