Dr. Luther Day⁷ Whitney (James⁶, Cornelius⁵, Matthias⁴, Cornelius³, Joshua², John¹), son of James⁶ and Betsey (Law) Whitney, was born 13 Mar 1810, Granville, NY, and died 11 Dec/Sep 1876, Grand Blanc, MI.

He married firstly, 29 Jan 1835, Troy, MI, Aroline Perrin, daughter of Calvin and Nancy F. (Mallory) Perrin of Troy. She was born 30 Oct 1815, probably Penfield, NY, and died 14 Dec 1845.

He married secondly, 28 Mar 1847, Lakeville, MI, Elvira Day. She was born 2 Oct 1821, NY, and died 1905, MI.

He was a physician, and resided Jackson and Big Rapids, MI.

LUTHER D. WHITNEY, Representative from Lapeer county in 1857, was born at Granville, N. Y., March 13, 1810. He learned the trade of a mason and also preached occasionally. He came to Michigan in 1832, and was for fourteen years a Methodist minister. He then, from a bronchial affection, retired, studied medicine, and began practice at Commerce, Mich., in 1844. In 1849 removed to Hadley, Lapeer county, and continued practice, sometimes preaching. A Whig, then Free Soiler, then a Republican. In 1875 he moved to Grand Blanc, where he died September 11, 1876.^[1]
