Luther P.7 Whitney (Israel6, Daniel5, Daniel4, Benjamin3, John2, John1), son of Israel6 and Sally (Mills) Whitney, was born about 1821, Watertown or Waltham, MA, and died 2 Dec 1862, Marlborough, MA, aged 40 years, of consumption.[1]

He married firstly, 21 Jan 1846, Marlborough, MA, Sophia Howe,[2] daughter of Ephraim and Anna (Temple) Howe. She was born about 1825, Marlborough, MA, and died 30 Oct 1857, Marlborough, MA, aged 33 years, of consumption.[3]

He married secondly, 19 Jun 1859, Marlborough, MA, Lucy Howe, daughter of Ephraim and Anna (Temple) Howe.[4] She was born about Mar 1831, Marlborough, MA,[5] and died 5 Jan 1898, Marlborough, MA, aged 66 years 10 months, of Bright's disease and pneumonia.[6]

ii. Arathusa Ann Whitney, b. 2 Sep 1848, Marlborough, MA;[9] d. 25 Oct 1902, Lowell, MA, aged 54 years, of strangulated hernia;[10] m. 10 May 1871, Marlborough, MA [also recorded at Fitchburg, MA], Elmer A. Gilmore, b. ca. 1848, Jaffrey, NH, son of David H. and Maranda B. (Bailey) Gilmore.[11]
iii. Eveline Sophia Whitney, b. 15 Aug 1850, Marlborough, MA.[12]
iv. Charles S. Whitney, b. 23 Sep 1851, Marlborough, MA.[13] Probably later called George S. in the 1870 census. He m. 10 Jan 1885, Marlborough, MA, Hattie B. Winslow, daughter of Luther P. and Mary L. (Hooper) Winslow, b. Jun 1860, South Paris, ME.[14] No children.
v. Angeline P. Whitney, b. 10 Feb 1857, Marlborough, MA;[15] d. 27 Sep 1858, Berlin, MA, aged 1 year 6 months, of cholera infantum.[16]
