Maria A.⁸ Whitney (Abner⁷, (William⁶, Abner⁵, John⁴, Isaiah³, Thomas², John¹), daughter of Abner⁷ and Annis M. (Phinney) Whitney, was born 9 Mar 1836, MA, and died 23 Mar 1909, Bowdoinham, ME.^[1]

She married about 1863, Henry C. Babb, son of Thomas and Mary (Bartlett) Babb. He was born 24 Jan 1833, Saccarappa, ME, and died 31 Jul 1919, Augusta, ME.^[2] He had married firstly, 3 Jul 1856, Portland, ME, Josephine Libby, daughter of Simon and Rebecca Ann (Morse) Libby. She was born 7 Mar 1837, Gray, ME. They children Ida F. Babb, b. ca. 1857, ME, and George J. Babb, b. ca. 1861, ME.

i.	Alice J. Babb, b. ca. 1865, ME; m. 28 Jun 1884, Bowdoinham, ME, James E. Nickerson.
