Nathan Franklin6 Whitney (Nathan5, Benjamin4, John3, Benjamin2, John1), son of Nathan5 and Fannie D. (Shephard) Whitney, was born 10 Apr 1831, Augusta, ME,[1] and "Nathan Frank" died 1874, Augusta, ME,[2] or 9 Mar 1874, Cornish, ME.[3]

Marriage intentions were published 8 May 1857, South Berwick, ME, for him "Mr." "of Augusta, Maine" and Mary F. Copeland "of Lincoln, Maine".[4] He "Mr." "of Augusta, Maine" married, 9 May 1857, South Berwick, ME, Mary Frances Copeland "of Lincoln, Maine",[5] daughter of Raymond and Sibyl (Fletcher) Copeland. She was born 29 Jul 1828, Dexter, ME, and died 8 Nov 1913, Gardiner, ME.[6]

He was a soldier in the Civil War.[7] He applied for a pension for his service as a Private in Co. K, 2nd Maine Infantry, but it was disallowed. His widow Mary received a widow's pension.[8]
