Oren Robbins Whitney (Phinehas, (poss.) John5, (poss.) Samuel4, John3, Benjamin2, John1), son of Phinehas and Mary (Crommitt) Whitney, was born 24 Oct 1819, Phillips (or Avon), ME,[1] and died 28 Oct 1885, Presque Isle, ME. He was buried in Fairmount Cemetery, Presque Isle, ME.

He married, before 1840, Martha Ann Foster, daughter of David and Harmony (Packard) Foster. She was born about 7 Jun 1825, Winthrop, ME, and died 10 Jun 1891, Somerville, MA, aged 66 years 3 days, of heart disease.[2] She was buried in Fairmount Cemetery, Presque Isle, ME.

i. Sumner F. Whitney, b. ca. 1846, Portland Academy Grant (now Bridgewater), ME.
ii. Margaret L. Whitney, b. ca. 7 Nov 1847, Portland Academy Grant (now Bridgewater), ME; d. 28 Jan 1905, Peabody, MA, aged 57 years 2 months 21 days, of apoplexy; bur. Cedar Grove Cemetery, Peabody, MA;[3] m. 15 Nov 1899, Lynn, MA, John H. Torr, b. ca. 1863, Peabody, MA, son of James S. and Caroline F. (Dudley) Torr.[4] The marriage record says she was born Presque Isle, ME, daughter of Samuel H. and Martha A. (Foster) Whitney. Her death certificate says otherwise, and appears to be more accurate. At marriage, she was a nurse, he currier.
iii. George A. Whitney, b. ca. 1853, Bridgewater, ME; m. 14 Jan 1892, Peabody, MA, Lizzie L. Davis, b. ca. 1862, Peabody, MA, dau. of Daniel R. and Elizabeth A. (Newhall) Davis.[5]
