Richard7 Whitney (Timothy6, Timothy5, Jonas4, Moses3, Richard2, John1), son of Timothy6 and Lois (Baker) Whitney, was born 2 Aug 1800, Lanesborough, MA,[1] and died 24 Mar 1869, Pittsfield, MA [recorded in Lanesborough, MA], aged 69 years, of kidney.[2]

He married, Oct 1826, Waterville, NY, or 30 Sep 1826, Sangerfield, Madison Co., NY, Clarissa Tower,[3] daughter of Justus and Dilla/Delia (Demond) Tower. She was born 2 Mar 1802, Paris, NY, and died 8 Sep 1887, Pittsfield, MA, aged 85 years 6 months 8 days, of heart disease.[4]

He was born in Lanesborough, MA, where his father was one of the most prominent citizens, and where he always resided. He was a merchant, postmaster, and register of deeds for Berkshire County all his life. He was a small man, bald, with black eyes, very amiable and never had an enemy, and was much respected and beloved. He was a member of the Congregational church, and sung in the choir all his life. He resided Lanesborough and Pittsfield, MA.

iii. Eliza Ann Whitney, b. 4 Oct 1835, Lanesborough, MA;[8] d. 22 Jun 1908, House of Mercy, Pittsfield, MA, aged 72 years 8 months 18 days, of dilitation of heart;[9] bur. Pittsfield Cemetery; m. 28 May 1862, Lanesborough, MA, Almon H. Harrison, b. ca. 1835, Williamstown, MA, son of John and Cordelia (Hickox) Harrison;[10] resided Pittsfield, MA. He was b. 4 Dec 1834. Is a merchant. Children:
a. Mary W. Harrison, b. 12 Apr 1865.
b. Frank W. Harrison, b. 7 Feb 1869.
iv. Henry Tower Whitney, b. 24 Jul 1841, Lanesborough, MA;[11]; d. 31 Dec 1853, Lanesborough, MA, aged 12 years, of typhus fever.[12]
