Richard Burt8 Whitney (Charles7, Henry6, John5, Abraham4, Joseph3, John2, Henry1), son of Charles7 and Roxana Malvina (Palmer) Whitney, was born 7 Nov 1853, East Townsend, OH, and died after 1900.

He married, about 1880, Mariam B. (Layne) Stockton, daughter of Elisha Goodwin and Elizabeth Jane (Kiblinger) Layne. She was born Mar 1845, IN, and died after 1900. She had married firstly, 9 Feb 1864, IN, Tippecanoe Co., Martin V. Stockton.

He was a dealer in lumber. He was living at Worthington, IN, in 1873, and Indianapolis, IN, in 1900.

iv. Guy Newton Stockton, b. ca. 1871, IN; d. 6 Apr 1946, Seattle, WA; m. 1930-1940, Snohomish, WA, Minnie Belle (Tracy) Stockton.
