Silas M.7 Whitney {Enos6, Enos5, John4, Richard3, John2, Henry1), son of Enos6 and Margery (Merriman) Whitney, was born about 1826, CT, and died about Feb 1868, Galesburg, IL.

He married firstly, Calphurnia H. Parmenter, daughter of William and Derinda (Bennett) Parmenter. She was born 7 Jul 1823, PA, and died 8 Sep 1856, aged 33 years 2 months 4 days. She was buried in Union Hill Cemetery, Gibson, PA.[1]

He married secondly, 7 Mar 1860, Knox Co., IL, Rebecca Hinsey,[2] daughter of John Hinsey. She was born about 1834, IL, and died between 1861 and 1863.

He married thirdly, 30 Jul 1863, Knox Co., IL, Mary J. Andrews.[3] She was born about Sep 1827, PA, and died after 1900.

Newspaper article, 26 Feb 1868, Galesburg, IL: "Mr. Silas Whitney and Mr. W. A. Wood, both prominent business men of Galesburg, died recently. Mr. Whitney was injured while working in his plow factory by a stick of timber catching on the top of a buzz saw and being sent back against him with such force as too injure him internally and cause his death."[4]
