Spencer Lambert8 Whitney (Joseph Mead7, Joseph Lee6, Jeremiah5, Jeremiah4, Nathan3, John2, Henry1), son of Joseph8 Mead and Arabella Howe (Warner) Whitney, was born 8 Sep 1853, Great Valley, NY, and died after 1910. He was buried in Chapellsburg Burying Ground, Humphrey, NY.[1]

He married firstly, before 1883, Sarah A. Blanchard, possibly daughter of Lewis and Alice (-----) Blanchard. She was born 7 Apr 1857, and died 27 Oct 1883. She was buried in East Otto Cemetery, East Otto, NY.[2]

He married secondly, about 1890, Eveline Maud -----. She was born Nov 1859, NY, and died 1915. She was buried in Chapellsburg Burying Ground, Humphrey, NY.[3]

He was living at East Ashford, NY, in May 1875, unmarried.

i. Lewis Joseph9 Whitney, b. 21 Oct 1883, Farmerville, NY; m. Beatrice Lavinia Perkins.

Children of Spencer Lambert8 and Eveline Maud (-----) Whitney:

ii. John Ervin (Cilley)9 Whitney, b. 1 Jan 1892, Borden, NY; d. Susquehanna Co., PA; m. 30 Jun 1916, Greene Co., NY, Melvina Emma Warren.[4] He may have been adopted, since he was not in the family in 1900, and Eveline reported having had no children. Confirmation of his adoption is provided by the 1905 New York State Census which shows him residing with the family and his relationship to the head of household as "adopted son."
