Thomas Hart Benton7 Whitney (Henry6, Archibald5, Henry4, Josiah3, John2, Henry1), son of Henry6 and Maria Frances (Phillips) Whitney, was born 18 Sep 1843, Birmingham, CT, and died 1929, Derby, CT. He was buried in Oak Cliff Cemetery, Derby, CT.[1]

He "of Birmingham" married, 13 Jun 1872, Manhattan, New York, NY, Alice B. Phillips "of Brooklyn", dau. of Ranson and Mary (-----) Phillips. She was born about 1850, CT, and died after 1880.

He was a commercial traveller; resided Birmingham, CT, Nov 1872, unmarried.

He enlisted 23 Apr 1861, as a Private in Co. D, 2d Reg., Conn. Vol. Infantry. He served for three months. Mustered out on 7 Aug 1861, New Haven, CT. On 21 Nov 1905, he applied for an invalid pension, #1,342,504, certificate #1,119,656.
