Varnum7 Whitney (Artemas6, John5, Abraham4, Isaiah3, Thomas2, John1), son of Artemas6 and Rebecca (Smith) Whitney, was born 26 May 1818, Shirley, MA,[1] and died 6 Oct 1850, Lunenburg, MA, aged 33 years 4 months 17 days, of fits.[2]

Marriage intentions were published 7 Dec 1844, Lunenburg, MA, for him and Abigail C. Parker, "both of Lunenburg".[3] He married, 25 or 26 Dec 1844, Lowell, MA, Abigail Cunningham Parker,[4] daughter of Elisha and Eunice (Gould) Parker. She was born 31 May 1812, Lunenburg, MA, and died 8 Sep 1894, Lunenburg, MA, aged 81 years 3 months 8 days, paralyzed.[5]

ii. Thomas P. Whitney, b. 24 May 1848, Lunenburg, MA; d. after 1900, then unmarried.
iii. Albert J. Whitney, b. ca. May 1849; d. 22 Jul 1850, Lunenburg, MA, aged 1 year 2 months, of inflammation of the head.[7]
iv. Abby Frances Whitney, b. 5 Oct 1850, Lunenburg, MA;[8] m. 18 Aug 1866, Lunenburg, MA, John F. Howard, of Lunenburg, son of Wesley and Mary A. (-----) Howard, b. ca. 1843, Litchfield, ME.[9] He was in the teaming business, and was a soldier in the civil war.[10] Children:
a. Lulu Eva Howard, b. 17 Apr 1867, m. 21 Oct 1884, Leominster, MA, Walter H. McIntyre.
b. Minnie Louise Howard, b. 23 Jan 1870, m. 7 May 1890, Lunenburg, MA, George Henry Whitcomb.
