Willard M.8 Whitney (David7, Ebenezer6, Ephraim5, Zachariah4, Ebenezer3, Richard2, John1), son of David7 and Clarissa (-----) Whitney, was born Jan 1830, PA, and died after 1910.

He married, Martha Swetland, daughter of Eleazer and Philinda A. (Crane) Swetland. She was born about 1837, Middlefield, NY, and died 15 Jan 1893.

He enlisted 7 May or 5 Jul 1864 as a Private in Co. H, 187th Pennsylvania Infantry. Promoted to Full Corporal on 1 Jun 1865. Mustered out on 3 Aug 1865 at Harrisburg, PA. He applied for an invalid pension on 27 Apr 1880, Application #359,584, Certificate #215,664.
