William7 Whitney (Ezra6, Ezra5, James4, John3, Jonathan2, John1), son of Ezra6 and Betsey (Marshall) Whitney, was born about 9 Dec 1792, Boston, MA, was baptized 16 Dec 1792, Boston, MA,[1] and died 23 Sep 1859, Boston, MA, aged 66 years 9 months 14 days, of disease of heart, male, married, merchant, resided Boston, son of Ezra and Elizabeth.[2] He was buried in Lot 79, Cypress Avenue, Mount Auburn Cemetery, Cambridge, MA.

He married, 29 Oct 1817, Northampton, MA, Sarah Butler,[3] daughter of William and Huldah (Brown) Butler. She was born about 25 Aug 1797, Northampton, MA, and died 15 Aug 1880, Northampton, MA, aged 82 years 11 months 20 days, of inanition.[4]

He was a merchant, and resided in Boston, MA.

Children of William7 and Sarah (Butler) Whitney, probably incomplete. The censuses indicates two sons older than Joseph and at least four daughters:

i. (prob.) William8 Whitney, b. ca. 1819, MA; m. Sarah Ann Scott.
ii. Frederick Whitney, b. ca. 1821, Boston, MA; d. 4 Sep 1848, Northampton, MA, aged 27 years; merchant;[5] bur. Lot 79, Cypress Ave., Mount Auburn Cemetery, Cambridge, MA.[6]
iii. Joseph S. Whitney, b. ca. 1827; m. Anna B. Wood.
iv. Harriet C. Whitney, b. ca. 1829; d. 4 Aug 1848, aged 19 years;[7] bur. Lot 79, Cypress Ave., Mount Auburn Cemetery, Cambridge, MA.
