John⁷ Whitney (Oliver⁶, David⁵, Nathaniel⁴, Nathaniel³, John², John¹), born Nelson, New Hampshire, 21 Jan 1784; married at Ludlow, Vermont, 9 May 1813, Mary Spaulding, born May 22, 1796; died 19 Oct 1880. He was a farmer. He died 27 Sep 1852; resided Ludlow, Vermont.

i.	Mary8 Whitney, born 26 Mar 1814; married 2 Apr 1835, Joseph Smith. She died 26 Aug 1893. He was born 8 Sep 1809; died 21 Sep 1881. Was a farmer. Ch.: Solon J., born 12 Sep 1845; married 7 Nov 1868; resided Clinton, Iowa; Granville, born 3 Oct 1848; resided Lincoln, Colorado; Henry, born 12 Mar 1839; died 28 Mar 1839; Asabel, born 22 Jul 1843; died 28 Aug 1851.
ii.	Granville M. Whitney, born 22 Apr 1816; married 22 Feb 1842, Emeline Wilder, and d.s.p. 5 Jul 1848.
iii.	John H. Whitney, born 21 Sep 1819; married Sarah Jane Manning.
iv.	Adaline E. Whitney, born 17 Nov 1824; married 22 Feb 1842, Oliver Farmer.
v.	James S. Whitney, born 28 Apr 1827; married 28 Nov 1848; resided 101 Chapel street, Lowell, Massachusetts.
vi.	Jeptha D. Whitney, born 15 Mar 1830; died 10 Jul 1852.
vii.	Amanda M. Whitney, born 16 Nov 1834; married 18 Apr 1855, William Henry Field; resided 13 Chestnut avenue, Rutland, Vermont. He was born 12 Oct 1822; is a contractor and builder. Ch.: Rolin Denison, born Mar. 3, 1857; married 24 Dec 1877; resided Brandon, Vermont.
