Chauncey Whitney, parentage unknown, was born circa 1796, MA, and died after 1860, probably Niagra Co., NY.
He married, say 1818, Amanda Taft, b. 31 Dec 1798, Peru, MA, d. 7 Feb 1872, Broome Co., NY, age 73. She was dau. of Asa and Sarah (Whitney) Taft, and granddaughter of John and Mary (Cary or Cory) Whitney.
Children of Chauncey and Amanda (Taft) Whitney:
i. Oliver C. Whitney, b. ca. 1819, NY. ii. Clarrissa Whitney, b. ca. 1821, NY. iii. Smith Whitney, b. ca. 1823, NY. iv. Lucy Whitney, b. ca. 1825, NY. v. Jackson Whitney, b. ca. 1830, NY.
