Charles Sumner⁸ Whitney (Robert Patten⁷, Joseph⁶, Joseph⁵, Abel⁴, Nathaniel³, Benjamin², John¹), son of Robert Patten⁷ and Ruth F. (Sprague) Whitney, was born 15 Jun 1857,^[1] Topsham, ME.

He married firstly (int. 2 Nov 1881, Topsham, ME^[2]) 10 Nov 1881, Bath, ME, Eliza "Lide" Springer Robbins "of Bath", ME.^[3] daughter of William and Sybil D. (-----) Robbins. She was born Sep 1862, ME, and died after 1900. They were divorced.

He married secondly, 20 Jan 1892, Gardiner or Topsham, ME, Nellie Torrey Lambard,^[4] daughter of Joseph and Mary (Sheldon) Lambert.
