Appleton Downer⁶ Whitney (Asa⁵, Joshua⁴, William³, Joshua², John¹), born Salisbury, Connecticut, Jan 4, 1779; married Esther Jewett; married 2d Dolly Wyman; died Sinclairville, New York, Jan 3, 1878. He died Jan 16, 1851; resided Pittsfield, Massachusetts, and Berea, Ohio.

i.	Geo. Ransom7 Whitney, born Mar 14, 1801; married Harriett M. Bronson.
ii.	Martha Cleveland Whitney, born in Pittsfield, Jan 1, 1818; married in New Lebanon, New York, Sept 23, 1834; Robert Temple Shaw; resided Sinclairville, New York. He was born Jan 23, 1814; died Apr 9, 1859. Farmer. Ch.: Francis Eugene, born Nov 19, 1840; married Aug 5, 1879 address, Dunkirk, New York; Henry Appleton, born Dec 15, 1842; died Nov 23, 1846; Gedeon Wheeler, b.25 Jun 1845; married Sep 3 1874; address, Sinclairville, New York; Laura Helen, born Nov 8, 1847; married 24 Jul 1866; address, Sinclairville, New York.
iii.	Albert A. Whitney, born Dec 10, 1811; married Jennette Brown.
