Family:Whitney, Salmon Deforest (1871-1932)

Salmon Deforest⁹ Whitney (Robert Shaw⁸, Albert Appleton⁷, Appleton Downer⁶, Asa⁵, Joshua⁴, William³, Joshua², John¹), son of Robert Shaw⁸ and Emily (Hicks) Whitney, was born near Rochester, Lorain County, Ohio on 29 November 1871. He died on 9 June 1932 in his daughter Edna's house in Homewood, Cook County, Illinois.

Salmon was a carpenter and house builder. He built many of the older houses in Homewood, including the one in which he lived.

He married Mary Louise Whitney on 9 May 1894. She was born on 12 Nov 1877 in Norway and died on 18 Oct 1953 in Homewood, Illinois. Her parents were Thorvald Andersen and Lena Marie Jansen.
