Lebbeus6 Whitney (James Rex5, Caleb4, William3, Joshua2, John1), born Oct. 8, 1785; married 1808, Elizabeth Ford, born Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, 9 Aug 1786; died 3 Feb 1873.

His parents emigrated from New York to Georgia, in 1785, and while on their way thither he was born at Hillsboro, North Carolina. When a lad he went from Georgia to Charlestown, South Carolina, and thence before his majority to Philadelphia. For many years he was teller in the Schuylkill Bank. In July, 1832, he moved to Port Carbon, Pennsylvania, and was cashier of the branch of the bank there until 1840, when he went to a farm near Orwigsburg, Pennsylvania, and thence to Pottsville, in 1845, where he died. He died Sept. 7, 1849: resided Pottsville, Pennsylvania.

i. Mary Ann7 Whitney, born 24 Aug 1810: married 2 Apr 1835. Oliver C. Bosbyshell. He died 9 Nov 1838.
Ch.: Lebbeus W., born 10 May 1836; died Feb. 1, 1886, at Philadelphia; Chas. A., born 10 May 1836; married Elmira Drill: resided Philadelpha; Oliver C., born 3 Jan 1839; married Martha E. Stem; Supt. U.S. & Mint at Philadelphia.
ii. Laurence Ford Whitney, born 5 Oct 1812; married Hannah Pott.
iii. Charles A. Whitney, born 5 Mar 1815; married Sophia Faure.
iv. John F. Whitney, born 22 Sep 1817; married Elizabeth R. Ruckel.
v. Catherine Whitney, born 28 Feb 1820.
vi. WM. Lebbeus Whitney, born 16 Jan 1823; married Ann T. Potts and Emma St. C. Nichols.
vii. Elizabeth Ford Whitney, born 1 Jan 1826.
viii. Anna Margaret Whitney, born 27 Nov 1828; married 30 Sep 1856, Dr. Anthony Heger, asst. surg. U.S. Army. He was born Vienna, Austria, Dec. 4, 1828. She died 24 Sep 1864, at Point Lookout, Maryland
Ch.: William Simcoe, born 17 Jun 1857.
