1.^ Miss Laura Agusta Strader is listed on Bertram's (Kendall County, IL) birth certificate along with father Williston. It is unclear whether Williston was ever married to Laura as no Marriage Certificate has ever been found. Convention of the county at the time seems to suggest usage of the term "Miss" on the birth certificate suggests that they were not married upon the birth of their third child.
2.^ Bertram was adopted out to Robert B. and Mary Norris on 22 Oct 1883 by way of a hand-written declaration signed by Williston. This adoption was formalized by written Order of the local court at Marion County, IN, on 5 May 1884. Robert & Mary raised Bertram at Indianapolis, IN, where he later married Clara Margaret Sophia Hillman on 16 Sep 1903 at St. Paul's Church, Marion County, Indianapolis, IN. They had one child, Vera Catherine Norris on 3 Feb 1909.
