Alice Evelyn8 Whitney (Oliver7, Milton6, Asa5, Joshua4, William3, Joshua2, John1), daughter of Oliver Walcot7 and Esther (Rising) Whitney, was born 19 Jul 1849, Pittsfield, MA,[1] and died 27 Nov 1910.

She married, 5 May 1875, Des Moines IA, James Patton Clarke, son of Robert William and Caroline (King) Clarke. He was born 25 Feb 1845, Blairsville PA, and died 6 Oct 1906, Johnstown PA.

Children of John Patton and Alice8 (Whitney) Clarke:

i. Robert Whitney Clarke, b. a1876; d. 1877.
ii. Walter Whitney Clarke, b. a1877; d. 1877.
iii. Edgar Whitney Clarke, b. 11 Sep 1878, Des Moines IA; d. 17 Mar 1965, Pittsburgh PA; m.(1) Carolyn E. Daily; m.(2) Mary Quigley; m.(3) Theresa Inez.
iv. James Whitney Clarke, b. 7 Sep 1884, Des Moines IA; d. 31 Jul 1905, Derby CT, of cholera. B.S. general honors 1905, Sheffield Science School, Yale University.
v. Mary Whitney Clarke, b. 14 Apr 1890, Englewood NJ; d. 27 May 1964, Sarasota FL; m. James McLain Goodell.
