"Memorandum that the xxvth daye of Aprill in the yeare of oure Lorde god one thousand five hundred nyntie and
nyne Eustance whitney of clyfford in the countie and dioc. of heref. Esquier beinge than sicke in bodye but
yeat of good and perfect remembrance (god be thanked for it) made and declared by worde of mouth
and by this Last testament and will nuncupative in effect as foloweth / First he commended his soule to
allmightie god his creator and to christ Jesu his redeemer by whose merits he trusted to be saved, and to the
holy ghoast his sanctifier all one god and three persones in Trinitie, and he willed his body to be buried
in the parishe churche of Clyfford soe neere as might be to his wiffes grave there in such manr. and sort as
becom a christian and a man of his place which to performe he comitted to his sonne James whitney and to the
rest of his children and frindes. Item he gave and bequeathed xxj kyne two heyfers of three yeares
old a peece with two bullockes also of three yeares old, one bullocke and one heyfer of two yeares old viij
yearelynges calfes lx sheepe and xl lambes to his choldrens children viz the children of James whitney
his sonne, to the children of Thomas wenland whoe maried with his dowghter Sibill, and to the
children of Robert Duppa whoe maried with his dowghter Blaynche equalie to be Devided betwene
them all Itm he gave and beqeathed to Blaynche wenland the Dowghter of the Thomas wenland and Sibill
wenland the said testators dowghters dowghter one fetherbedd with thapputennces to the same belonginge to be delyvered
to the said Blainche by the the appointement of the sayd James Whitney his sonne Itm he gave & bequeathed
three geldinges and three mares
to his said sonne James whitney ^ xvj oxen and two Iron bound waynes. Itm he gave and bequeathed to
the said Thomas wenland one Iron bound wayne and one other Iron bound wayne also to Robert
Duppa aforesaid Itm he gave and bequeathed to Griffith lloyd his servant two acres of Rye growinge
said
on the ground in a close neere adioynynge to a close called the calfes close in the ^ parishe of Clyfford
Itm he gave and bequeathed to the said Griffith lloyd one Dublet of Blacke kersye, and two payre of briches
or (as they are nowe called) venetians Itm he gave and bequeathed to John Thomas the baylie of his teemes
and husbandrye two Jerkyns of blacke frishe Itm wheareas he the said Eustance whitney owed unto his sister
Blanch whitney the som of xij li. xviij s iiij d his mynde and Intent was and he did by worde of mouth wille
chardge his said sonne James whitney to make up the said xij li. xviij s iiij d to the som of xx li. and so to
delyver and paye the sayd xx li. to Blainche whitney aforesaid Itm the said testator at the tyme
aforesaid by his said last will and testament nuncupative gave and bequeathed the use and occupacon
of all his plate and of all his armor whatsoever (the same armor then extant & beinge in his parlor
or chamber where he laye sicke and Died) to the said James whitney willing and requireing
him the said James to leave all the said plate and all the sayd armor to his heyres and
to his posteritie in his howse landes and lyvinge thees being witnesses present at the
publisheing of this his last will and testament nuncupative
