farmer; married at Hector, N. Y., 16 Oct. 1851, by Elder West, Baptist, to Mary Taylor, dau. of William A. and Cynthia (Vail) Taylor, of Newfield, N. Y., where she was born 8 Feb. 1833. They settled at Newfield; moved to Bolivar, N. Y., thence to Wellsville, N. Y., from there to Van Etten, N. Y., and finally (in Ap. 1876) to Barton, N. Y. He enlisted at Newfield, 28 Dec. 1863, in Co. M, 21st Reg., N. Y. S. Light Cavalry; and was discharged at Denver, Colorado, in 1866.

IV. James Marvin Whitney, b. at Enfield, N. Y., 30 Dec. 1833; died there, 6 Dec. 1834, and was buried at Enfield Centre.

V. Moses Daniel Whitney, b. at Enfield, N. Y., 5 Jan. 1836; a farmer; married at Newfield, N. Y., 12 Dec. 1858, by Elder Arkills, Baptist, to Sarah Jessup, dau. of Oliver and Chloe (Thompson) Jessup, of Newfield. She was born at Little Britain, in New Windsor, N. Y., 23 Feb. 1836. They settled in Newfield, and were living there in March 1875.

II. Maria Whitney, b. in Enfield, N. Y., 24 Nov. 1835; married near Burdett, in Hector, N. Y., 17 Dec. 1857, by Elder Reed Burritt, to Peter Albert Coats, a farmer, son of Joseph and Jane (Bellows) Coats, of Hector, where he was born 17 June 1818. They settled one mile north of Burdett; and he died there, 19 Ap. 1875.
