15000 I. Charles Aaron Whitney, b. at Big Flats, N. Y., 20 March 1841; married in the Park Church at Elmira, N. Y., 20 June 1866, by Rev. Thomas K. Beecher, Congregational, to Jenny Cleves, dau. of Joshua Cleves. They settled at Binghamton, N.Y., and were living there in 1874. 19523
15001 II. John J. Whitney, b. at Big Flats, N. Y., 25 Feb. 1843; married there, 31 Jan. 1865, by Rev. David Burrows, Baptist, to Lucy Burdick. They settled at Elmira, N. Y., and were living there in 1874. He enlisted at Big Flats, in 1862, in Co. C, 5th Reg., N. Y. S. Vol. Artillery; was with the regiment in all of its engagements; and was mustered out with it, in 1865. 19526
15002 III. George Gilbert Whitney, b. at Big Flats, N. Y., 29 Ap. 1845; married at Horseheads, N. Y., 3 June 1874, Lavinia Thorn, dau. of Robert Thorn. They were living at Elmira, N. Y., in 1874.
15003 IV. Mary Elizabeth Whitney, b. at Big Flats, N. Y., 13 May 1848; married at Binghamton, N. Y., 3 May 1871, William Edgar Haines,1 a harness-maker and carriage-trimmer, who was born at Warwick, N. Y., 19 Nov. 1836, and moved to Chemung Co., N. Y., in 1853, with his parents, Lewis and Esther (Lecost) Haines. He enlisted, as band-leader, in the 4th Reg. of N. Y. S. Vols., served for three months, procured a substitute, and was discharged. They settled in Centre Street, Horseheads, N. Y., and were living there in 1874.
