officially recognized by the Colonial Government, 28 March 1873; married, 27 Jan. 1875, at St. Mark's Church, Smith's Parish, Bermuda, by the Rev. George Tucker, rector of Hamilton, assisted by the Rev. James H. Eames, D. D., rector of St. Paul's Church, Concord, N. H., to Frances Mary Hill, dau. of the late John and Adri Anna (Gilbert) Hill, of the Islands of Bermudas, where she was born, 6 Oct. 1829. Their home, in Aug. 1875, was Mont Glare, a charming spot, on the shore of Harrington Sound, Bermuda, though his legal residence was at Birmingham, Conn. Mrs. Eames devotes a page of her Letters from Bermuda, to Mr. Whitney's wedding, and bears testimony to his exceeding kindness and attention to Americans who visit the Islands.

John Dore Whitney, b. at Derby, Conn., 25 May 1827; a manufacturer of hoop-skirts; married, 17 Oct. 1866, at Bridgeport, Conn., Mary Frances Parrott, dau. of Frederick Wells and Lucelia Ann (Remer) Parrott, of Bridgeport, where she was born, 31 Jan. 1833. They settled at Bridgeport, and were living there in Oct. 1874.
