William Henry Whitney, b. at Derby, Conn., 10 Aug. 1812; a farmer; married at Woodbury, Conn., 13 Oct. 1852, Cornelia Elizabeth Peck, dau. of Jonathan Ingersol and Mary (Morrison) Peck, of Woodbury, where she was born 17 Jan. 1836. He was living at Southbury, Conn., in March 1874; she, at Oakville, in Waterbury, Conn., in May 1875.

II. Stephen Merritt Whitney, b. at Derby, Conn., 20 Oct 1815; a mariner; was mate of the vessel on which he made his last voyage to New Orleans, La. He died there, of yellow fever, about 1853, unmarried.

III. Hannah Maria Whitney, b. at Derby, Conn., 4 March 1817; married at Bridgeport, Conn., 6 Feb. 18361 by Rev. Nathaniel Hewit, Congregational, to Horace Brown, a carriage-painter, born at Easton, Conn., son of Lewis and Mary (Middlebrooks) Brown. They dwelt at Bridgeport. He died at Westport, Conn., 27 Nov. 1837, and was buried in the old cemetery there. She was married (2d), 29 Oct. 1839, at Norfield, in Weston, by Rev. George Hall, Congregational, to Eliphalet Thorp Craft, a shoe-cutter, son of Rev. Bradford and Paulina (Thorp) Craft, of Green's Farms, in Westport, where he was born 13 Feb. 1817. They settled at Westport; moved to Catskill, N. Y., in 1841; returned to Bridgeport in 1843; and, in 1857, moved to Brooklyn, N. Y., which has since been their home. They were living at 102 South 4th Street in March 1874.

IV. Huldah Ann Whitney, b. at Long Hill, in Trumbull, Conn., 13 July 1819; married at Bridgeport, Conn., 29 June 1837, Lewis Ryan, a merchant-tailor, of Talbotton, Ga., son of James and Catharine (Ryan) Ryan, of Philadelphia, Penn., where he was born 29 May 1815. They settled at Talbotton; and, 1 Ap. 1840, moved to Monticello, Ga., where he died, 8 June 1847, and was buried. He served in the Seminole war in 1836. She moved, with her children, to Atlanta, Ga., 1 Jan. 1854; and there married (2d), 27 July 1858, William Newton Kirkpatrick,1 a lawyer, son of James and Ann (Parks) Kirkpatrick, of Decatur, Ga., where he was born 17 Feb. 1822. They moved, in Feb. 1859, to Des Arc, Ark., where he was provost-marshal in the early years of the war of 1861.
